Day 1: Aberdare National Park
After breakfast in the morning, depart from Nairobi passing through Nyeri town where Lord Baden Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts movement, spent the last years of his life and is buried here. Have lunch en route at Aberdare Country Club and drive through the forest to view various species of game. These can be seen along the way to your tree hotel. Your accommodation balcony which overlooks a floodlit waterhole gives you the opportunity to watch game in the night. Overnight at The Ark Lodge / Treetops lodge.
Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve
Following a morning breakfast, depart north to Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch before taking an afternoon game drive to Samburu Game Reserve. This beautiful park is a home to rarely found species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, and blue-necked Somali ostrich beautiful. Overnight at Samburu Lodge.
Day 3: Samburu
You will spend a full day exploring Samburu reserve and its diverse species of game. Overnight as above.
Day 4 and 5: Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, depart north of Aberdare Mountains and descend into the Great Rift Valley for Lake Nakuru. Visit one of the world’s well-known bird sanctuaries of Lake Nakuru National Park. Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.
Day 6 and 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning you will cross the Great Rift Valley and arrive at Masai Mara Game Reserve. Have lunch at Sarova Mara Lodge before exploring the plains and rolling hills for a chance to spot the elephant, black-maned lion, leopard, buffalo, cheetah, and with diverse species of hoofed animals. Overnight at Sarova Mara Lodge / Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 8: Nairobi
Transfer to the Airport for outbound flight.
Note: This safari itinerary can be twisted to include a night in Nairobi on arrival or have one night in Nakuru and 3 in Masai Mara. Either way, it is still excellent!
